Basin Arts offers residency programs for artists of all disciplines. Our residencies provide a supportive environment for artists to create, experiment, and collaborate with other artists. Our goal is to foster creativity and community in the arts.

DanceLab Choreographer Residency
Fall 2026 | Applications open through August 30
The Basin Arts DanceLab Choreographer Residency is a nine-week creative residency supporting emerging and established choreographers in the research, development, and presentation of new dance work in Acadiana. The residency provides dedicated time, rehearsal space, and production resources for artists to experiment, collaborate, and deepen their choreographic practice. All dance genres are encouraged to apply.
Selected choreographers receive up to 18 hours of rehearsal space at Basin Arts, two public performance opportunities on November 13 + 14, professional photography and videography documentation, and a $100 performance honorarium. The residency culminates in an intimate public showcase where artists may present works-in-progress or completed pieces.
ProjectSpace Residency

ProjectSpace Residency is a three-month residency allowing artists to dive deeper into the creation process while allowing the process to become visible to the community as the work unfolds into a full exhibition.
This residency is a paid opportunity & artists of all disciplines are welcome to apply. Through this residency, we support multidisciplinary, collaborative work with a minimum of 2 artists per project.

DanceLab Residency

Our DanceLab Residency is a process based residency supporting emerging to professional movement artists.
Ideas & materials are generated through community movement workshops, artist talks, advanced/professional dance classes & focused studio time.
