Get involved with ACADIANA DANCE MONTH! MARCH 1-31st, 2019
ABOUT ACADIANA DANCE MONTH: Acadiana Center for the Arts, Basin Arts and Upstage Live join forces to present Acadiana Dance Month. This month-long celebration aims to increase awareness and advocacy for the art of dance in our Acadiana Region. With nearly 100 local dance schools, cultural groups, professional companies, student organizations, a university program and dance service providers, Acadiana is a region rich with culture and people with a love for dance.
Throughout March, we want to engage as many dance people in our community as possible! Wouldn’t it be awesome to get to know more about the people who make up our local dance community. There is wealth of talent, experience and knowledge right in our backyard and we hope this month is an inspiring way to come together around a mutual passion.
This can include: Dancers Choreographers Dance Teachers Dance Students Dance Moms Dance Studios Dance Teams Dance Clubs Costume Designers Lighting Designers Dance Photographers Dance Performance Venues Musicians and Composers Dance Filmmakers Dance Audiences this list could go on forever…all styles, all cultures, all ages, all levels, all communities are encouraged to join in the fun.
“We aim to increase visibility throughout the month of March with group gatherings, performances and social media campaigns with a goal of creating a stronger more connected dance community to enhance the cultural economy of Acadiana,” said Clare Cook, founder of Basin Arts — choreographer, teacher and collaborator.
