Introducing Pauly Steez

Paul Bailey is a Baton Rouge-born artist currently based in Lafayette, Louisiana. He earned a degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Working primarily with acrylic paint and oil pastels, Paul draws inspiration from artists such as Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso, particularly their approaches to color, subject matter, and texture. His work explores themes including man versus machine, isolation, and pop culture.

Who makes up your art circle?

My art circle is made up of fellow artists I’ve connected with through social media over the years. We regularly engage with one another’s work, exchange ideas, and stay connected through our shared creative practices.

How do you expand your art circle?

I expand my art circle by meeting people in everyday social settings, whether at an event or simply in passing. I enjoy making new connections and sharing business cards or social media handles to stay in touch.

What value do you see in having a creative community?

I see tremendous value in having a creative community. The support you receive from others can help you persevere when you need it most. Whether it’s exchanging ideas, collaborating, or simply catching up with one another, those connections are important.

How does your artistic approach contribute to your community?

I contribute by being myself and consistently putting my best work forward. As artists, we’re always paying attention to what others are creating. Seeing how someone approaches an idea or executes a piece can inspire new ways of thinking and making.
