Introducing Ricky Broussard

Ricky Broussard is one of two artists behind Stop and Chalk, a Lafayette-based creative initiative dedicated to bringing fun, wholesome artistic experiences to the community. Through caricatures, floral arrangement workshops, window painting, chalk murals, and other hands-on activities, Stop and Chalk transforms everyday gathering places into opportunities for creativity and connection.

From cafés and bars to schools, farmers' markets, and local parks, Ricky and Emma bring art into shared community spaces, encouraging people of all ages to participate. As Stop and Chalk continues to grow, Ricky hopes to create more opportunities for both established and emerging artists to share their talents, collaborate, and connect with the community.

Who Makes Up Your Art Circle?

The people included in our art circle are myself, my friend Emma, and anyone along the way we find who has talents to share in spaces that benefit from them!

How Do You Expand Your Art Circle?

Our art circle expands every time we make a new post, or go out of our way to include strangers in our floral wrapping projects, chalk murals, and all other crafty initiatives!

What Value Do You See in Having a Creative Community?

I believe the value of a creative community comes from creating opportunities for artistic expression and continuing to build upon them. Networking and connecting with other creatives has definitely been my favorite part of growing my business!

How Does Your Artistic Approach Contribute to Your Community?

I think networking with other creatives and creating fun, inclusive opportunities for people to craft and express themselves has made a meaningful impact on the Lafayette community. Whether someone is young, old, busy, or simply looking for a way to relax, these experiences offer a whimsical break from their everyday routine!
