Andrea Lane Ainsworth is a Lafayette, Louisiana-based visual artist whose work blends memory, travel, and emotion into soft, color-driven pieces. Inspired by nature’s expansiveness, she creates paintings that feel grounded yet ethereal, with gestures that invite both stillness and movement. Her style has been shaped by her love of Rothko’s openness, Twombly’s expressive marks, and her fascination with color as emotion.
Her travels have a profound influence on her work, with each place offering a distinct mood. For example, when creating work inspired by France, Andrea creates playful, whimsical, and romantic pieces full of soft colors and joy. Italy inspires her work to be grounded, contemplative, and refined abstractions with minimal textures. Greece moves Andrea to create soothing coastal dreamscapes, expansive skies, and serene horizons. Her newest series, Pink Sands & Rainbow Snowfall, brings these influences together, blending movement, color, and memory into a singular, poetic language.
You can currently view a stunning collection of Andrea’s work in UL’s Fletcher Hall as part of ARCHIVES Exhibitions & Fletcher Hall Gallery’s NEXT Phase workshop series and exhibition. The gallery will be open through September 25th.

Who makes up your art circle?
My art circle includes fellow artists, designers, gallerists, and creative friends I’ve met through shows, collaborations, and travel. It’s a mix of people who inspire me visually and emotionally—those who value storytelling, texture, and color in their work.
How do you expand your art circle?
I expand my circle by showing up—attending gallery openings, pop-ups, and festivals, and reaching out to artists and designers whose work resonates with me. Instagram has also allowed me to connect with creatives around the world, and my travels often lead to inspiring, unexpected connections.
What value do you see in having a creative community?
A creative community brings inspiration, collaboration, and belonging. It provides a space to share ideas, exchange feedback, and celebrate successes while growing together. It makes the process of creating feel connected and supported.
How does your artistic approach contribute to your community?
My work blends memory, travel, and color into soft, expressive pieces that encourage pause and reflection. Through exhibiting, collaborating with designers, and sharing my process, I hope to create moments of beauty and spark connection while inspiring others to explore their own creativity.
