Basin Arts was founded in 2016 by Creative Director, Clare Cook, to meet some basic artistic needs for the community:

1. Provide adult dance classes for the novice to professional

2. Provide visual artist studio spaces

3. Provide a space for collaboration to support artistic creation.

   
   

Year One (2016 and early 2017) was all about throwing paint on the walls, physically and metaphorically. Taking chances, experimenting with ideas, and building a community for artists along the way. In year one — we established a full roster of adult dance classes, housed five visual artists in residence, launched our art gallery with rotating exhibitions (curated by our first resident artist and curator, Jacob Broussard), began our monthly critique night platform, and produced STIR - a professional dance concert combining dance and food in partnership with Runaway Dish and the Acadiana Center for the Arts.
