Basin Arts entered Year 8 (Aug. 2023–Aug. 2024) with exciting expansion across our programs and community partnerships.
This year, we supported FIVE ProjectSpace Residency projects, including:
Art & Nature by Steve Breaux, Kathy Reed, and Mare Martin
The Living Altar by Amber Ramirez, Edward Ballet IV & Morgane Prejean
Femme UNmuted by Roz LeCompte and Andrea Villien
Dress for the Dance by Kelly Clayton
Erosion by Alex McBride
BARE Walls reached new heights with its first installation of art at Lafayette Regional Airport, bringing local creativity to travelers near and far. We partnered with KRVS to launch the monthly Art Circle radio show, amplifying Acadiana artists’ voices across the airwaves. KRVS also joined the roster of BARE Walls locations this year. We also began a new partnership with The 705 to host monthly meetings, weaving deeper connections between arts, culture, and emerging leaders in Lafayette.
We welcomed Helanius Wilkins for an inspiring dance residency, sharing his vision and movement practice with our community. Dance also thrived through the launch of our Dance Lab Residency, supporting choreographic exploration and performance creation. Our first DanceLab resident we welcomed was Ann Glaviano.
Our Freetown Jazz Night Fundraiser brought music, art, and neighbors together in Freetown to support our ongoing mission. At 4 Corners, public art flourished with a stunning mural by Jamar Pierre, celebrated with a community block party full of art, dance, and connection.
As we celebrate 10 years of Basin Arts, we’re getting ready to move into a BRAND NEW building. Help us keep growing into our next decade by supporting our $10,000 summer fundraising goal.
