Year 6, Deepening Roots

Basin Arts entered Year 7 (Aug. 2022–Aug. 2023) with a commitment to growth, connection, and deeper community impact. Our ProjectSpace Residency continued to flourish as Cycle 2 ended and Cycle 3 began, welcoming new artists to explore, create, and share bold work within our walls.

We brought back Acadiana Dance Month, celebrating dance across the region with classes, performances, and community gatherings that lifted up every mover and maker. Year 7 also marked the two youth dance pilot programs, YADA (Young Artists Dance Alliance), our youth dance program nurturing the next generation of dancers, and Modern Movers Satellite Program, expanding our reach to bring modern dance training to new spaces and students.

In November 2022, we hosted an Open Call exhibition in the Basin Arts Gallery, highlighting a wide range of local visual artists. BARE Walls reached new heights with a group exhibition in March 2023.

We were thrilled to establish a new partnership with Advancial Federal Credit Union, expanding community support a BARE Walls site at Maison Freetown. Beyond our walls, Public Art took flight with the launch of the 4 Corners Mural and Performance Project, which began in Summer 2023.
